TPS Groups Chat Room's Review of Ghost Sonata
Reviewed by Tom Ansart
Re: OCT Presents Ghost Sonata
I saw this play on opening night with a group of graduate student "Strindberg Scholars." We went to a bar afterwards and talked about our impressions until 1 am. The clear consensus is that Open Circle is to be commended for the bravery to stage this play, in a church! No one, not even the professor who did her PhD thesis on the play had ever seen it performed. The cast in general did a great job, there were some amazing and forever memorable scenes and moments. Aaron Allshouse as the old man, Hummel, has nailed this character, beyond any preconceptions we had going in. "The epitamy of the fat cat capitalist" was one comment. I personally loved the chariot scene with the masked populace. |
